Our Story

Darin and I (Kathy) grew up in Christian homes, were high school sweethearts, and went on mission trips with our youth group. We planned to get married after college and go on short term mission trips while serving in our local church, New Life Church in New Cumberland, PA. After one year of marriage, we went on a two-week trip to Portugal with ABWE to help build a school for missionary kids. It was on this journey that we started to recognize God's work in our hearts. As we prayed and sought direction for the future, God clearly guided us into full-time missions.

Welcome!

Thank you for stopping by and learning more about who we are and what we do!

"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring good tidings of good things!   Romans 10:14-15

Peace Chinese Christian Church

After beginning pre-field ministry with no kids, we left for Kenya in 2008 with three small children. Tyler was almost five, Ella was three, and Alexis was nine months old. We learned Swahili and helped plant Utawala Baptist Church in Nairobi. Darin led the youth group, helped preach with an interpreter, and organized games for the Saturday children’s outreach. I taught Sunday school, junior church, and helped with the children’s outreach. In 2011 the government placed a huge tax on missionaries that we could not afford.

That summer we went on a survey trip to Durban, South Africa. Our family had peace that this was where God was leading us next. In September of 2011, the five of us flew to Durban and started working with a Chinese ministry called Peace Chinese Christian Church. Darin helped lead the church while the pastor was on furlough in Hong Kong and I taught Sunday school to the Chinese children with an interpreter. During this time, we were invited by Pastor Dennis Nkosi to visit the church he pastored, Crossroads Community of Christ. We felt like we had come home. After much prayer and long discussions in the Nkosi's home, God moved us to join the fellowship and assist in various ministries at Crossroads.

Please visit the rest of the website to see and learn more about the ministries we are now involved with in Durban, South Africa!
